Fresh off of two Grammy winnings last night, Compton new-classic Kendrick Lamar let slip a new single, “The Blacker The Berry”, a track rumored to be [according to his girlfriend] one of many gems from his highly mysterious, yet-to-released EP.
Throbbing with gritty, distorted production from Boi-1da (one of Drake’s faves) and Terrace Martin, the stampede of a track packs in dancehall interludes while a snarling Lamar proclaims a Pan-African vehemence and tramples the color boundary by method of spitfire delivery and lyrical provocateur (“You vandalize my perception but can’t take style from me, and this is more than confession/ I mean I might just press the button so you know my discretion, I’m guardin’ my feelin’s–I know that you feel it…).
